Zion80 working on new EP - Warriors

Zion80, a Jewish jazz/klezmer group that is said to comprise 80 members (both religious and non-religious) and has two studio albums as well as two live EPs under their belts, recently created a funding page for release of a new EP titled "Warriors"

This from the groups website:

Zion80 is taking it to the next level, and we want you to be a part of it! We’re recording our first EP of brand new original music plus a two-song single. Join us as we embark on this exciting journey, and get access to the whole process with behind the scenes videos, photos, updates, signed CDs and a lot more.

When Zion80 began in 2012 with a weekly concert series at The Stone in New York City, we had no idea where the music would take us. Our self-titled debut CD was released in 2013 on John Zorn’s Tzadik Records, followed in 2014 by Adramelech: Book of Angels vol. 22 and a live EP in 2016. And we’ve had the privilege of performing for audiences at festivals and venues throughout the US, Canada and Europe.

After arranging and recording music by Shlomo Carlebach and John Zorn, we’re very excited to put out our first recording of original music. The Warriors EP will feature four songs by Zion80 bandleader Jon Madof. In addition, we’re recording a two song single of Carlebach songs that have been a popular part of our live set. Both will be released on Chant Records, a new label founded by Jon Madof and Shanir Blumenkranz and dedicated to the creation of fiercely independent music by an international community of artists.

When you pledge to the project at any level, you’ll have exclusive access to the process of recording, mixing and releasing the music. Along with regular updates, you’ll get videos, photos, rough mixes, alternate takes and more. And you’ll be the first to get the final product before its public release. All exclusive offers include the digital download of the EP and single.

Throughout the whole Zion80 journey, the most gratifying thing has been building relationships with our audience. Whether in person at performances in Milan, Krakow, Toronto or Cologne or online via Facebook or email, connecting with people who love Zion80’s music reminds us again and again why we do what we do.

That’s why we’re asking you to be a part of our next project and help us get the word out. It’s not just about funding. It’s about you and us, writing the next chapter in the Zion80 story together.
